Good morning. Today is Tuesday, February 7, and these are your morning announcements.

Happy birthday today to: Robert Arthur, Christine Behrent, Gabriella Criado, Veronica Dugan and Kathryn Mayer.

Today’s fact for Black History Month is Henry (“Hank”) Aaron broke Babe Ruth’s home run record when he hit his 715th home run in 1974. He set a Major League record with 755 home runs in his career. Don’t forget to pick up your locker tag in the main office.

The Muslim/Middle Eastern and Asian Groups will meet Tuesday, 7th period. The African American and Latino/Latina Groups will meet Tuesday, 8th period. All groups will meet in room 156.  Passes will be delivered Tuesday morning.

English OGT prep will be held after school in the Write Place. Please see your English teacher with questions.

The 100 day celebration is Tuesday, Feb. 14 during the last half of fifth period and all of sixth period.   If you normally leave before 11:30, please plan to stay for the celebration and panoramic picture. Picture order forms will be given to you by your government teacher next week.  If you ordered announcements from Jostens you will be able to pick those up during this event.  Questions: see Mrs. Rader is room 166.

Today is the career fair in the gymnasium. The fair will go between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  Please plan to attend.  This is a great time to ask questions about your learning path. Questions, see Mrs. Sohl in guidance

Those interested in intramural boxing – you have until Wednesday, February 15 to register.  If interested, please see Mr. Bobek.

Renaissance is currently collecting gently used jeans for the “Teens for Jeans” project to benefit less fortunate teenagers.  Drop off a pair in the Attendance Office, the Fees Office, or room 173, and get a coupon for 25% off a new pair of jeans at Aeropastle!  If you have any questions please see Chris Martin.

Drama Club and Tech Crew meeting this Thursday at 3 p.m. in room 70.  Publicity meeting for Picnic at Hanging Rock will follow the general meeting.

Coach De Dent will be having a boys tennis meeting Thursday, February 9th right after school in 171.  Any boy interested in playing tennis this spring should attend the meeting.  If you can’t attend the meeting, you should leave your name with Mrs. Richards in the Athletic Office.  Meeting should last 20 to 30 minutes.

The swim teams were in action against Bradley and Darby this past Saturday with the girls taking home 2 victories and the guys dropping two.  Individual winners for the Wildcats were Megan Schmalenberger, Erin Brooks and Megan Wittman.  The Wildcats are at the Sectional Tournament this Saturday in Marysville.

The baseball team will hold an organization and information meeting Thursday, February 9 in the Weaver commons at 3 pm.  Anyone wanting to try out who isn’t involved in a winter sport should attend.

The varsity hockey team maintained its #1 state ranking this weekend. They beat the Westerville Warcats 8-2 Saturday. Scoring for the Cats were Alex Campbell, Kenyon Clevenger, Landen Gruszewski, and Matt Kausel. Mack Burton had 13 saves. The team also beat the #2 Newark Generals, 4-1 with goals by Alex Campell and Keyon Clevenger; Mack Burton saved 24 shots on goal. Come watch the team take on the Northeast Storm Friday, February 10th at 6:40 pm downtown at the Ice Haus.  Sunday is SENIOR NIGHT!  The Varsity team takes on the Pickerington Prowlers at 4:40 pm at the Easton Chiller.  Come at 4:30 to recognize the Davidson Seniors:  Tyler Hissrich and Matt Kausel.
